Creature Mark
Objective
Graphically interpret a chosen creature using design fundamentals and communicate the unique traits of the creature.
Creature Research
For my creature, I decided to do an owl. As a kid, I had an obsessions with owls, and I wanted to bring back that nostalgia. I also find the curvature and shape of their wings to be interesting. I looked at several different kinds of owls, and decided on a great horned owl.
Sketches
After finding reference photos, and going into photoshop to adjust the wings of the owl reference, I made sketches of the geometry and different variations of the owl to create in Illustrator.
Iterative Process
Variations of the owl's composition were created before the final was chosen and small tweaks were made.
